Sedona and the Verde Valley
Birdwatching in Sedona and the Verde Valley offers a unique blend of habitats, from lush riparian zones along one of many spring-fed creeks to the striking red rock landscapes dotted with junipers and pinyon pines. This juxtaposition of forest, desert and riparian habitat is home to a rich diversity of birds, including the vibrant Vermilion Flycatcher, the gorgeous Painted Redstart and the country’s largest population of Common Black Hawks. The mild temperatures of the region attract  numerous  winter residents and migrants in fall and spring, making it a prime spot for birdwatching throughout the year. Whether you're an experienced birder or a casual observer the region’s rich biodiversity and scenic allure make it an unforgettable destination for all who appreciate nature’s wonder.

Three-hour Tour

Prices: Solo private $150       2-3 people $95 pp         4+ Group rates

Three hours of birdwatching can pass quickly, so we meet at one of our local hotspots and birdwatch for the entire three hours. The best place to spend three hours is the Bubbling Ponds Fish Hatchery just south of Sedona. It is an Important Bird Area and is extremely "birdy" year round. Binoculars, water and snacks are provided.

Half-day Tour (Up to 5.5 hours)

Prices: Solo Private $225       2-3 people $145 pp        4+ Group rates

The half-day tour gives us an opportunity to birdwatch in at least three different locations and habitats. We begin on one of the many red rock trails in Sedona for desert locals, a wetlands preserve for marsh birds and migrants, and a shady riparian area at one of our spring-fed creeks. I provide transportation, equipment, water and a variety of snacks, including berries, fruit and tasty bars.

Full-Day Tour (Up to 8 hours)

Price: Solo Private $275       2-3 people $195 pp         4+ Group rates

The full day tour gives us plenty of time to explore the region without rushing. In addition to a red rock trail, wetlands, and riparian habitats, we can travel south to lower elevations for more desert species, or north to higher elevation mixed-conifer habitat near Flagstaff. I provide transportation, equipment, snacks and a prepared lunch from Whole Foods
